ICEAM Utrecht

The Utrecht branch of ICEAM is the most recently inaugurated branch, founded in January 2021. Its sole purpose is to direct the roll out of a new model of hybrid webinars, using a combination of webinar instruction and live in-person instruction. The need for said hybrid webinars became apparent during the challenges of 2020 when SARS-CoV-2 started circulating in Europe forcing the shut down of all live webinars. The branch is located in the Netherlands, but the training it is responsible for is pan-European. However, its offered in-person webinars will be organized in the Utrecht region. The branch is managed by director Lettie de Wit, MD. She may be contacted at ldewit@utrecht.iceam.org

First Hybrid Live/Online ICEAM® Canonical Chinese Medicine® Training 2021-2023 for Europe

Intro video

English:
Dutch:

For the first time ever, we are offering a hybrid training option comprised of 13 live webinars, along with 4 live in-person seminars in the Netherlands.

Improve your clinical accuracy, efficiency, and most importantly your results through the study of the systematic approach outlined in the classics, or cannons, of the Han dynasty, with specific focus on the Shanghan Zabing Lun (Shanghan Lun and Jingui Yaolue).

This training is delivered in a series of weekend webinars over a period of 2,5 years, beginning on July 17 & 18, 2021. It consists of three modules:

  • Canonical Foundations (5 webinars)
  • The Shanghan Lun (4 webinars & 2 live seminars)
  • The Jingui Yaolue (4 webinars & 2 live seminars)
  • 13 weekends are online, 4 weekends are held in Utrecht, The Netherlands
  • The entire training is held in English.
  • Sign up before May 17 for an early bird rate (whole course; US$ 7,317.00) (please switch to your preferred currency in the upper right hand corner of the webpage)

Your improved clinical results will be accomplished via the in-depth study of the following areas:

  • Tian Lineage® pulse system – a clear and simple clinical system that quickly leads you to the required formula, enhancing your clinical precision and efficiency;
  • Clear understanding of physiology and pathology on the 5 element & 6 conformation model outlined in the Shanghan Zabing Lun;
  • Modular formula system of the Shanghan Zabing Lun, which is built strictly on the 5 element & 6 conformation model, so your treatment always follows physiology;
  • A systematic approach to modification – an understanding of pathophysiology and the modular nature of formulas allows you to understand how to modify in accordance with that formula and with your patient’s individual physiology;
  • Clinical application of all of the above knowledge through the examination of case studies, clinical strategies, and further clinical training with real patients;

The training is developed by Dr. Arnaud Versluys, and this European course is taught by Mr. Laurie Ayres, London ICEAM Director, head instructor & clinical supervisor for ICEAM in Europe. He is assisted by Mr. Anthony Todd, ICEAM’s head Fukushin instructor. Both instructors have undergone in-depth training with Tian Lineage holder and ICEAM Founder and Managing Director Arnaud Versluys. Dr. Lettie de Wit is the branch director of Utrecht ICEAM and coordinator of this Pan-European course. She can be reached for further questions at ldewit@utrecht.iceam.org.

Utrecht – Shanghan Lun Abdominal Diagnosis Fukushin

Japanese abdominal diagnosis or Fukushin is the diagnostic art developed in medieval Japan based on the canonical writings by Zhang Zhongjing. Careful inspection of the Shanghan Zabing Lun reveals countless references to abdominal conditions that could only have been diagnosed by actual palpation of the abdomen. The skill however never fully developed in China but flourished in Japan. Throughout history, two major trends and types of abdominal diagnosis developed, being the Nanjing and Shanghan Lun schools, which respectively diagnose the abdomen in service of either acupuncture or meridian treatment, and herbal treatment. Fukushin refers specifically to Shanghan Lun style of abdominal diagnosis developed by Japanese scholars during Edo period (1603-1867 CE) for the purpose of prescribing the Han dynasty formulas of Zhang Zhongjing.

Utrecht – Tian-Lineage Jingui Yaolue Pulse Diagnosis

June 10, 2023 - June 11, 2023
ICEAM Utrecht, Onderdoor 5, 3995 DW

Diagnosis in Han-dynasty was primarily done by taking the pulse. Every formula can be identified through one or more pulse patterns presenting in the patient. Though many pulses are mentioned in the Jingui Yaolue, crucial detail is often hidden, and it is as if this knowledge is merely implicitly present, as if it were embedded. Therefore, the Tian Heming Canonical Formula lineage’s main strength and contribution to the field of Chinese medicine to have made this advanced knowledge on pulse diagnosis crystal clear and evident. This knowledge has never been recorded in any book, but was rather transmitted orally from Dr. Tian Heming through Dr. Zeng Rongxiu to Dr. Arnaud Versluys. The latter of which has been teaching this material around the world in more systematized and structured format since a few years. Note regarding the Shanghan Lun and Jingui Yaolue Pulse Seminars: due to the proprietary and complex nature of these seminars, they cannot be registered for individually and can only be taken as part of the total sequence. The pulse seminars are open for individual registration only to Diplomates of Canonical Chinese Medicine already certified by our institute who wish to retake the seminar.
