The Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine propagates a classical approach to the practice of clinical East Asian medicine. It aims to educate students and practitioners worldwide to advance the level of their clinical abilities; as well as deepen their overall understanding of the medicine. This is an attempt to lift the plane at which East Asian medicine is practiced globally. It is our conviction, that the aforementioned is crucial to the survival of East Asian medicine, the preservation of its original identity, and its secure perpetuation into an undetermined future. To that affect, we not only aim to educate the practitioners of today, but also to train the masters of tomorrow.
Dr. Versluys has designed a pathway that will allow any person to find their proper level of commitment to the ideals of ICEAM. The Affiliation Pathway is inspired by the old models of East Asian medicine disciple- or apprenticeship, and clearly outlines the path a candidate can choose to walk, as well as the stops along the way at which a candidate can decide to abide, both permanently as well as temporarily.
It is also our strongest conviction that any person who so wishes to can attain mastery of East Asian medicine, and that as a consequence, any person can become a teacher for future generations. It is our hope that an increasing number of practitioners will heed this calling and commit to perfecting their proper skills in the preparation of passing these on to future generations. ICEAM sees this as one of its raisons-d’être.
The Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine is constantly looking for teachers to contribute to the program. If you live, practice and teach the classics of East Asian medicine and are interested in joining our team of instructors, then please contact us. If you are a current or prospective student of the Institute and would like to start training to become an instructor in the classics of East Asian medicine, then please also communicate that wish with us. All communications can be sent to info@iceam.org
